History:
This car was imported from France to Netherlands in 1997 and we bought this in 1998.
First restauration
After registration in Netherlands in March 1998 the car was stripped and restored as far as necessary to make it technically in good condition as well as esthetically. Besides the body work, the car was still in reasonably good condition, so a full restauration was not required.
· Severe body repairs were made to remove all rust from the body panels, front door shells were replaced completely.
· After this the car was freshly painted in its original color Vert Argenté, a metallic green color, very special and unique.
· Repairs to the chassis were minimal, since this was still in very good condition.
· Bumpers were polished and all fasteners & golden metal parts got Zinc plated again etc.
Driving and conditioned parking
After the car was assembled my parents enjoyed driving in this car when the weather was good, making day trips, visit family and friends, and going on holidays to France. The car has always been parked in a conditioned garage, where it remained during wet weather conditions and during winter time.
Upgrades & revisions
· LPG Installation was placed, car can run both on LPG and Fuel.
· During the next years the interior was replaced, of course with the original dark green fabric.
· Also the engine got a revision (in 2006) as well as the 4 speed manual gearbox and clutch (in 2002), the 1900cc engine got upgraded to 2100cc (21DX2) for a bit more power.
· An Electronic ignition was installed.
· Hydraulic system got refurbished; new pump, refurbished power steering and suspension balls replaced (in 2001)
Second restauration
After 11 years of duty the bodywork was again in need of TLC.
And because my father got an infarction in 2010 and was not allowed to drive, we decided to disassemble the car to make driving impossible for him.
· The body work got a 2nd restauration, new steel rear fenders, new steel front under guard and a fresh paint job, again in Vert Argenté.
· Also the bumpers were polished again.
After this restauration the car was placed in the garage until 2019 when we decided to finish the assembly.
Original details
Many parts of this car are still original and have a very nice Patina of 45+ years!
We decided not over-restore and keep as much original parts as possible.
Although the car is 45+ years old, it is in surprisingly good condition.
My parents really took good care of this car, and we received compliments from the appraiser which made the recent taxation.
Maintenance
Maintenance and most repairs have been performed by “DS Garage Jansen”. This is a well-known Citroën DS expert in the Netherlands. Full history of repairs and maintenance of this car since 1998 is available.
Last large maintenance is performed in April 2021 (for the sum of € 1.700,-)
The car has been serviced and recently passed APK (Dutch TUV or MOT) and is ready for years of pleasure.
Since 2019 it has only been out of the garage for some road trips during good weather to keep it in condition and has been stored in Car Hotel “Passion for Cars” in Houten in The Netherlands.
